One of our clients requested a new method of integrating with an existing database with a new portal for accessing the documents.
We developed ‘DOT’s – as a means of providing staff with a quick interface for accessing online documents, and updating information associated with documents.
Built on a Microsoft Windows server, the application runs in PHP using online forms:
1) Enter the information
2) Select a PDF document to view
3) Generate reports on document information stored in the system.
This development was complicated as it involved integrated with an existing document scanning system, but providing a portal for manually checking and updating information stored by the document tracking system in a much more efficient way.
In some ways this introduced the company into aspects of document management systems, which (few years later) led a to the development of our own case management system – Progress Mediation.
